My brother the latest Xbox 360 Arcade version with the Jasper chipset that supposedly solves the RROD. First game he tried was Gears of War 2 and right away the disc was unreadable. He's played it for a few hours but it randomly says Gears is unreadable.

We decided to return it to Gamestop after two days. We get there and we try to exchange it and the clerk says they don't have any used Xbox 360 in stock and we have to wait for people who pre-ordered. My brother didn't catch it but he said "used" in exchange for the "new" one we bought two days ago?? That was cleared up but he had to look at ours before he exchanged it for a new one. He takes off the faceplate and says it looks like it's been modded and hacked because of the sticker inside is pink, doesn't say microsoft and it's upside down. Is he saying because it was exposed to sunlight it turned pink? I thought if it got red the pink starts to bleed red. We tell him no way we modded it and it's brand new. He has to call it in and get authorization that he can take it which he eventually does. We're thinking Gamestop sold us a used Xbox 360 as new. Bastards. Then as he packs it up he asks where the memory card is which we say it didn't come with. He tells us it must come with a memory card or he can't send it back. We tell them how can we save our games in GoW2 without the memory being built in but he insists. Finally we agree to but the new Xbox 360 and give him the memory card from that one to send in with the busted one. Lo and Behold, the new one doesn't have a memory card either and behind the faceplate the stick is also pink, upside down and doesn't say microsoft.

I'll give the clerk a "pass" on thinking we were trying to pull a fast one on him even though we tried to tell him it was new and we didn't hack it. Microsoft however is just plain irritating. Unreadable disk error is either the game or the console. Haven't they fixed this yet? I think we were there for at least 30-45 minutes.

I don't think the new Jasper units come with a memory card, since they have 256MB of flash ROM right on the motherboard now.

He apologized and then said what we said made sense because how can we save games without a memory card. My brother was trying to tell him that this was a Jasper unit for the Xbox 360 but he just stuck to his guns and said this is what corporate told him.
