Many schools have open license agreements with Microsoft. It all depends on the school. Many schools only charge a few dollars for the media.
It's actually good marketing for Microsoft.

Dude.
What minuscule percentage of the nationwide (worldwide?) population who reads this forum is going to be able to take advantage of a deal where you have to currently be a student at UCSD?
Don't you have a BBS on campus you could bind this to instead?

I have 3 friends who go to UCSD and I know they don't know about this.. So I will tell them.. It doesn't matter if the people who read this board GO to the school.. word of mouth is just as good of an advertiser (if not better) than a bulletin board.. Thanks for the post!

I completely agree with bollox.
This isn't unlike posting the policy on our campus where you can get free laser printer access.
Ask yourself this before posting, could more than 10% of the people reading this board benefit from this deal?
If not, keep this great insider information to yourself.

I don't go to UCSD (or even know what that's an anacronym for). If one of you wants to pick me up a copy of W2K and mail it to me, I'd call this a HOT deal.

Gee Bollox your attitude sure did change when you realized that you might personally benefit from this deal.
From thread crapper to deal grabber.
From what I could see, the thread title was very clear in stating that this was a limited deal.
Good luck in finding someone to take the time and trouble to please you.
dude, this is excellent info regardless. i can't believe that ppl would say to keep this off the forum. it's a forum, not a limit-your-speech gathering. i read maybe 1 or 2 posts a day out of all these posts that are useful to me, yet i am glad they are all here. if you're not glad they are here, or are bothered because "only 10 percent" would benefit, then you have your own issues and this forum can't help you.
Exactly. Thanks for the deal... my UCSD friends and I can now go get a few copies now... even though I already bought a copy.

It is illegal to give the software to anyone else. It's licensed to only current students...
I got to UT Austin. I think whole UT system gets media cheap. We pay 5 bucks a cd. Kinda sucks some software thingies is 4-6 cd's. But then reading the finerpint, it seems like one person can buy and share with other students.
Also fineprint basically says current people only, what will I do when I graduate :P

Yeah, SD is weird like that...
This year, the weather has been really bad... For me anyways, when I have classes, midterms, paper's due, and other stuff, the weather is fine, but when I have free time, the weather is always bad, like today.
I guess its like Berkeley weather.

Did you say berkeley weather?!?!? I don't think its THAT bad ;) I don't know how long you've lived in San Diego, but I've been here all my life, and ya know what, I get annoyed by too much sun, I'd like to see some snow in front of my house for once....
