what are some of the reasons you replace the computer keyboard on your computers.
the main reason i replace one is it stops working.
second is the letters wear off the keys.
what are some other reasons you have had to replace a keyboard?

I am still using the first one I ever bought. It is only about six or seven years old.

I just picked up a Unicomp Customizer (http://pckeyboards.stores.yahoo.net/cus101usenon.html) which is a remake of the original IBM type M with the buckling spring key clicks. I'm hoping to get 20 years out of it.

when the keys wear off, it's time for a new one for me... :)

I think the last time I replaced mine might have been when a ferret spilled a glass of water on my keyboard. ;)

i usually replace it whenever i get annoyed by the dirt & crumbs in the keyboard. *shrug* at work, we have tons of them around, so I usually replace it every year or so. At home, way less since we don't have many extras.

i spilled milk in my old roommates keyboard and it started punching up 3 keys for every keystroke...
ok so i punch in "y" and i get "7&s"
it was funny when he came back and not funny when i bought a new one :)
i replace mine once a year or so. it's a pain in the ass trying to keep keyboards clean since i eat at my desk often, so i just shell out the $6 at Fry's for a new one.

You need something like this: http://www.techpin.com/the-flexible-silicone-rubber-keyboard/
I picked one up at Staples for I think about $10 when I was building my latest computer so I could run it at the same time as my old one until I had everything working properly.

Had to buy a new keyboard after pouring water all over the old one and a lot of buttons stopped working.

Haha! I remember those - you could kill someone with that keyboard. Those will last forever, but man are they loud.

That's part of the reason I like it. I get an auditory confirmation of the key press, so I don't have to press the key all the way down, just until it clicks. I can type quite a bit faster on it, but it does sound like a machine gun when I get going. I've got it for home use only. At work I use a MS Natural Ergonomic 4000, which is not bad.

That's the one I have. I like it quite a bit. I just remap the windows keys as "super" keys in Linux.
