interesting and at times controversial topic. i'll comment more later, but as it is a topic that affects so many, I'd like to hear what others think. any questions, etc., so that I may offer some insight, opinion, factual info, and maybe some education regarding psychopharm.

addiction is for the weak! no seriously its too bad that people become dependent i ahve a good friend who is a terrible alcoholic and only 37 yrs old. its tough to watch him continue to destory his life and make stupid maistakes over and over again. especially since many of the recent one have led to so short stints in jail <3-6 mo at a time>

To me, I would rather see someone addicted to an anti-addiction pill (kind of ironic, heh) than boozing it up every night and putting other people in danger. I personally don't think addictions are "for the weak". I believe that most people, if not everyone, have addictions. It's just the way society perceives these addictions. It could be working, watching TV, smoking, playing video games, hunting...whatever, really.

Depends on the side effects of the drug. What addictions does it overcome? Is it just alcohol or does it combat all substance abuse? How about things like over-eating?

Well, yes, those are things that should be taken into account as well. I still find it rather ironic that an anti-addiction drug is addictive. Even if it combated over-eating, it wouldn't be a failure as a whole. We're most overweight nation in the world.
