I know this sounds obvious to some of you, but can you have an IDE and SATA hard drive in the same computer? If so, which one would you boot from?

Yes, you can. If both connections are on the MB, there should be an option within BIOS to specify which is the boot device.

I would boot from the SATA since I have a WD VelociRaptor 300GB hard drive.

I second the thought of booting from the SATA.

The SATA drive probably will have a faster response time, so I'd pick that one to boot from.

I used both. It can be a hassle in the bios if you have a crappy version. Mine seemed to always want to set the IDE drive as the first book device. If your motherboard doesn't care :) go with the SATA
