View Full Version : System Restore problem

My laptop running Vista has had no problems with "System Restore" in the past. Now when I tried to use it, I get an error "No Restore Points". I went into "System Protection" and had to put checks into "C" and "D" drive, then created a restore point. I rebooted, went back to System Restore, tested it and even the one I created was gone, tried doing this three times. Any suggestions how to fix System Restore?
do you have enough hard drive space?
have you scanned your computer for viruses and spyware. some will prevent you from restoring your computer so that you can't eliminate their malware.

Hi Ray, there is 18 gig free and I did a bootup scan with Avast. It scanned clear but I wasn't convinced, probably should do it again and should do a http://www.malwarebytes.org/ scan. Thank you for your reply.

You may have a rootkit problem which won't be picked up by malwarebytes
Combofix can find things like vundo or virtumonde though you should read all the instructions b4 using it as it is normally only used with expert direction
