Who felt sorry for Gore because he had to sit there through the whole thing today? I voted for Bush and still support him, but I would have still been upset. Coming so close and winning the popular vote....but oh well. :)
Lets see how George W does now. He has to do better then Clinton. I am sure he won't have people under his desk. :D

I enjoyed watching that marine singing :) ..wow what a voice..did you see it?

Yep I forgot all about that today and Jen ICQed me and we both watched it and talked about it. I was very surprised Bush did so good on his speech. I know he didn't write it, but he only messed up like once reading it. :)

I wasn't really interested in watching. I'm about fed up with politics in general. But I am a staunch suppporter of President Bush, so that, coupled with the fact that I've never watched an inauguration, made me end up wanting to watch it. I was very impressed with how well G.W. did on his speech. As Nice said, obviously he had someone write it (I think all of them do, but...), and he probably practiced more times than he can remember, but he did very well. I really felt like he believed in what he was saying, and it made me hope for the future of this county.
I also felt a LITTLE bad for Gore, having to sit there and make nice when you know he is still seething. But he knew that was a possibility at the beginning, so...
Obby, the singer was awesome! I told Nice that he was a much better tenor than bass, but he still sounded great! :) I LOVE to listen to a man with a smooth voice sing! Too bad my hubby is tone deaf! roflmao!

Jen-do you happen to remember the name of the marine who did the singing? I thought GW did fab on the speech. I can't wait till they put a copy of it online so I can re-read it..I'm sure SEETHING is a MILD word..did you see at one point where GW went over to shake hands with gore/clinton before they all sat down and gore turned his back on GW? My hub said to me as it happened..'did you see that??!!"....gore eventually turned around and did shake his hand but I'm sure it was only an afterthought..o well-I'm just glad its all over..and I gotta say-GW'S daughters barbara and jenna were certainly lucky to be escorted in by those hunky men in uniform *melt*..SOME GALS HAVE ALL THE LUCK. The big question is..when Jesse Jackson was screwing his paramoor-did he play the "hail to the chief" music ;).

Yeah, some girls have all the luck! ;) No, I didn't see when Gore turned his back. Figures, though, doesn't it? lol
The name of the marine was... I have no idea. I looked on msnbc.com but couldn't find it. He was pretty cute, and had a great voice, but his lower lip was a little big... Hmmm, OOh! Could use that to our advantage, though, huh? ;)

I watched it too. I think the speech was wonderful and well spoken (except on that one part...). I think it is time we had some simple thoughts come from the White House. Our country has lost morals and it will be good to see if these thoughts are echoed throughout the nation in the next years.
As for the Marine...
He did have a wonderful voice. I don't think they said his name.

they said his name twice-once before each time he sang..it was also on the television in writing....THIS IS GONNA BUG ME.

hmm... which network did you watch?
I didn't see it or hear it on NBC
Although I missed part of the speech, I was very impressed with the portion I did see. It seemed genuine and made me proud to be an American. (Just read the transcript of GW's speech on CNN...looks like I missed just the intro.)
As for Gore... Well, he entered the race knowing he might not be the 43rd president.
