Do you ever plan on buying a Blu Ray burner?

I really don't see any reason to buy one, especially considering the price of the discs. But maybe there are certain applications that I haven't thought of which require their use.

I'm sure I said the same thing about CD's and DVD's. Increased storage is the biggest one.

However, for some reason it seems to me like Blu Ray is mostly going to be skipped. It's not really gaining a good foothold yet and there seems to better technologies coming right behind it.

Nope since Bluray doesn't seem to pick up steam after HD-DVD lost the HD war.

I don't really burn CDs that often. I burn dvds even less often. I guess with network and usb drives I don't see much of a need.

Ditto. Only time I really burn a DVD is when I'm downloading something like the Windows 7 beta... and in that case, a DVD-RW is the better route to take. Everything else is handled via ISOs that I mount via Daemon Tools (ISOs from Technet, etc.)

I'd do it just to rip blu-ray movies. However, for data storage purposes, I don't see why I would need anything larger than a DVD.

Then again, we were all fine with floppies at one point.

not until the blank media prices come down. when i can get a blank DVD-R for under 20 cents, i don't see a need to pay $10 for a blu-ray disc.

I was just about to say the same thing. I don't burn ANY media anymore. Not with plenty of thumb drives around for me to lose :)

My car radio also can take USB, so that makes it even easier to forgot the other media.
