Pretty good show, however there is so much "braggin' and boasting" by the "warrior experts" that their style of fighting is the best...
Last night, I pretty much already knew the outcome of the Spetznaz vs Green Beret (with the Spetznaz winning..) and the Mafia vs Yakuza from last week (with the Mafia winning).
For the most part, most of the battles have been pretty interesting (although I thought "Pirate vs Knight" was pretty unfair...)
Spartan vs Ninja was ok... but I'd rather have seen Spartan vs Samurai.
Probably the biggest shocker of the season was the first show... Apache Indian vs Roman Gladiator. Honestly, I didn't expect the Indian to win, but he did.
So any of you have any thoughts on the show? (Airs Tuesday nights at 10 p.m. Eastern on SPIKE TV).

I only saw bits of this episode. Seems like a cool enough show. I bet it would be better if it were done by Discovery or The Military Channel instead of Spike. Probably less of the "machismo" you describe and more hard analysis.
Not too surprised by the Indian. They were a primarily hunting and warrior culture, and they used ranged weapons like throwing axes (tomahawks), while gladiators always fought in close hand-to-hand combat, no?

Hmmm...I studied a little of both for a summer a while back. Ninja moves were very silent and focused on escaping, Samurai moves were focused on submitting and detaining. Two very different yet complimentary styles of fighting. I'm curious what a spartan fought like, because I'm not sure how that would pair up.

This is true, but some gladiators carried shields (which would nullify most of the knives and some of the tomahawks) Of course, the gladiator in question didn't have a shield... all he had was a net/trident combo, his sword, and the "scissors" (which although very deadly would have been VERY inappropriate in a "battlefield scenario").
Honestly, I'm not mad that the Indian won... I was just kinda shocked to see it happen. :)

I like it. I was bummed that the americans need to work on it. I was impressed the pirates won. It wasnt seeming likely but that big blunderbuss just bust up everything.
I keep wanting pirate vs ninja! I was soo bummed that they danced around the issue.
I'm also bummed that they seem to be running low on ideas. Mafia vs Yakuza? Meh, is that really a warrior type?
