sorry in advance for the gross lack of information. i haven't heard the actual song which makes this even harder. :spock:

It's an old classic from maybe the 50's, 60's or 70's sung by a female vocalist with a rich husky voice. the situation of the lyrics is the woman talking on the phone with a man whom she used to love. the man may be with another woman while the phone conversation is going on. the key clue is that in the lyrics the woman is asking the man to hold the phone closer so the other woman can't hear her saying "i love you."
