2 down, 2 to go! Pitt will be tough on thier home ice, but if Detroit wins tomorrow it'll almost certainly be a sweep.

good thing they got something for winning the east cuz that's the only hardware they're going to be hoisting for the next 12 months. :hihi:

I think it be a 5 game playoff. i will say the the Pittsburgh Penguins are a hell of a team. But there goalies not as good as Detroits. both teams are deserving of being in the playoffs.

The kicker is the Deadthings are doing it without some of their best players in the lineup.

Since when did Abdelkader get laser tracking on his shots???

the one thing i've noticed, is the absolute LACK of whistles. but atleast both teams are getting away with stuff

The refs definitely swallow their whistles the farther into the playoffs you go.

renovation

the ref's are payed to make the games last as long as possible .there so much money to be made as more games are played .and the player cant though a game ! but the games have been very good to watch and both teams are playing very well matched up.

Glad for the outcome. Only sad part (apart from it not being the Blackhawks that were celebrating) was that the Penguins had to celebrate in front of a booing Wings crowd.

Too bad... that one was Detroit's to lose, and they lost it!

My coworker (Wings Fan) lost about $500 with stuff he bet people. I don't blame him, if I had to bet between the 2 I would have bet on the Wings too.

Best part? Hossa on the bench while the pens were celebrating. :hehehmm:

What was the booing all about? It seemed to be most prominant when the guy came out to present the trophys and whenever he spoke- it seemed to be more directed at him than the Penguins. I don't follow hockey but happened to catch the final period of Game 7- they said it was the most watched game in 30 years I think. Exciting finish! Pittsburgh sure turned their season around with the new coach. My brother is a big Avalance fan.

The wings fans present were sore losers that, IMHO, was the reason they were booing. :D

That's Gary Bettman, he's the commissioner of the NHL and he gets BOOOO'd no matter what. Even if the winning teams arena. If they show him on the jumbtron at a game, doesn't matter, he will be boooo'd.

I can't get over how much whining is going on about Crosby and the hand shaking ordeal.

When you have no excuse for losing you have to talk about something else. Up 2-0 and then 3-2 they should have never lost. Now that they did they need someone to blame something on even if it is :censored:.

i'm guessing it was all the coverage the pens stars got while the wings were up in the games. kinda frustrated a lot of wings fans.

Should read:

I'm guessing it was all the coverage that Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin got in each freaking game. Very annoying to all hockey fans.

Seriously? All I heard was blah, blah, blah The Penguins have no chance....blah, blah, blah Datsuk is going to be back and that will be trouble for the Pens.....blah, blah, blah, Detroit is way too experienced for the Pens.....blah, blah, blah, Penguins won the Stanley Cup, the Wings are whining, and their fans are booing.

****, i was hearing that during EVERY pens game on NBC throughout the entire playoff run. during the Caps series every good play for either team was, 'that was nice, but its not the red wings'

guiseppewv
06-19-2009, 05:21 PM
That was very true of the Caps series. Every time Ovechkin, Crosby, or Malkin would make a great play it was always some kind of backhanded Wings comment.

The people calling the games in the finals were just like "Pens have no chance", "The Wings are too good/experienced/manly/awesome/sexy/etc...",.....

I did not even watch game 7. I listened to Mike Lange, the abso-effing-lutely best hockey color sportscaster, call the game on the radio over the internet.

gotta disagree with Lange. he has a great voice, and knows the game well, but sometimes he jsut says stupid stuff. i much prefer Rick Jeanneret out of buffalo

Are you talking about the guy who got ridiculed everytime he said something good about the Pens even when that was the whole point (i.e. for him to be the balance)?
