How can I rename my drives using WinMe?

Greetings PC gods, I have a quick question for you. I installed a new CD burner on my PC and everything works fine, however I would like to rename the drives to be more specific, such as DVD drive and CD Burner, etc. Is there an easy way to do this on WinMe? Thanks!

hmmm I don't think you can rename those optical drives. You can rename zip drives or hard disks, but i can't seem to rename those cd rom drives either. When you stick a cd rom or dvd rom in the drive it kind of renames itself anyways to the disk label.

Go to the nearest voodoo/magic shop. Make sure it's one with a really old guy. He has to have either an eye with a big cataract or a limp. Both is better. Tell him you want the all purpose WinME problem kit. (Kit should contain .25 lbs of C2, a fuse, some wire and a detonator) Take the kit home, follow the directions, and whamo, all your problems disappear.

0.25 lbs was not enough to fix my winME problems. I upgraded to WinME Problem Kit Pro (v2.0). It contained 0.33 lbs of C4 and a small gas-plasma cutting laser. The directions were a little sparse, and I can't find my cat since I "installed" it, but it's worth it to have my WinME problems fixed.

I didn't have the funds for v2.0, but i found a set of a beta version. It was definitely not ready for mass production (way too many flaws) but it did get the job done. While no C4 was included, the 28 pound sledge hammer complete with propane torch seemed to do the trick. The only thing was, it kept requiring a restart after each attempt, kinda frustrating but eventually it broke the problem down into its core components to ease the troubleshooting. Eventually the classic case of "Win-Rot" was found. While not the same as Mac-Rot (Mac heads, rejoice, I have a beige g3266mhz and a lombard, just for comparison's and comedy's sake), the disastrous effects of the Millions of lines of code of Windows literally eating away at the physical (and moral) integrity of the hard drive was saddening to say the least.

But all is now well, Linux is here.
