today i went to get my 2002 Saturn vue.4 cyl.fwd, checked out. the service engine light had been on for a couple of weeks. we put a scanner on the car. we fine no codes present when we did the scan.
but i have been getting a crackle in my radio. so i said why not do a tune up on it. i figured it had 65,000 miles so i go to the auto parts to buy the parts. i turned out all there was to tune the car up parts wise is 2 air filter ,a gas filter ,4 spark plugs & 4 coil on plug insulators.
i check out the aid filters and there like brand new so no replacements needed, gas filter is $5.00 , 4 spark plugs are $4.99 each for Bosch platinum +2 plugs each.these are split fire type. and the coil-on-plug insulators are $5.99 each.plus life time warranty.

i was shocked for a total of $52.56 with tax's for parts to do a whole tune up that took me at max 20 Min's start to finish plus 30 Min's to run to the auto parts for these parts.

i checked with a couple of shops and a dealer to do everything I did. the price was going to run me $325. to $554.

i removed the air cleaner housing (2 wire harness's ,2 large hose clamps and one compression hose clamp i used a pliers on to open ) then removed 4 - 10 mm bolts and lifted off the coil pack .pulled the coil-on-plug insulators , took out the old plugs (that still look like they have lots of life left in them ) installed the plug, coil-on-plug insulators ,put the coil pack back on ,and the air cleaner all bolts and clamps and reattched the wire harness's 10 -15 mins total start to finish , 5 more mins to replace the gas filter can. was done started the car and it ran like new .also put some carb cleaner into the fuel injector system .
total cost 1 hour of my time (free) parts cost ( $52.56 )
savings $272.44 to $501.44

That's the reason I do everything myself, except in the winter when it's just too cold to work on them.
