that's just silly. 2 years for shooting himself?
they wanted to make an example of him. doesn't look like the Giants are missing him at all. hahahaha.

Not a silly sentence at all when illegally carrying a gun carries a minimum 3 and a half year sentence in New York. It was a plea bargain. He plead guilty to get the reduced sentence. This is one of those cases with a mandatory minimum dictating the sentence.

He won't end up serving the full 2 years but they are reporting that with good behavior he'll only serve 20 months.

one thing that is ridiculous....
Plax shoots himself and gets 2 years.
Stallworth kills a guy drunk driving and gets 30 days and serves 24.
yeah... that's something ridiculous.

family of the dead man dropped the criminal charges and settled the civil suit outside of court. yeah, sucks, but the family didn't want to have to go through an entire court ordeal.

Again, you have to look at all the details in the case. Stallworth was able to get a plea deal because he settled out of court with the family and there were also questions as to how much responsibility Stallworth had in the accident. Based on reports, the guy came out of the road and Stallworth had no opportunity not to hit him. If Stallworth hadn't been drunk driving he may not have been charged with anything as it seemed the fault was as much with the man as with Stallworth.
The issue with Burress isn't that he shot himself but that he had an unregistered gun. Given the facts of each case both sentences are reasonable.
