So my wife calls me and asks where am I. I was in home depot and I could hear something in her voice wasn't right. She told me opened a letter with my name on it. Whatever. She asks me if I'm cheating on her in half joking and half serious tone. Of course not. She goes on to explain the envelope was addressed to me in pen belonging to a woman. I don't know how you know from the penmanship but ok. In the envelope is a post-it note hand written that says "I'm going, are you?" Sincerely M. Along with the post it note is an actual newspaper article cut out for a car local dealership of where to meet.

So while I'm stuck in 2 hours of traffic, my wife has let this thought in her head that something is amiss. When I get home, I tell her it's probably a scam. Of course this takes a while for her dismiss but now this stupid ad has put this thought in her head.

Anyone else get these kind of crude marketing ads?

Nope, that sucks. I'd get even with the dealership though. Walk in on the showroom at its busiest, drop trou and announce "I'm here for the gangbang."

That'll learn em.

I'd go to the dealership, and take the wife and the letter, and give them a good yelling at.

You realize that is exactly what the dealership both wants and expects you to do, right?

Anything (http://consumerist.com/348937/smart-glass-of-denver-uses-sneaky-post+it-advertising) to generate traffic (http://consumerist.com/5175512/desperate-chrysler-dealership-resorts-to-stupid-scare-tactics-to-drum-up-business)...

Stop having sex with women at car dealerships and you won't have to worry about it. :shifty:

I got a letter like that - a newspaper clipping with what looked like a hand-written note. Fortunately my wife didn't give it two seconds of thought.

But I know what you're talking about when you say your wife was pissed. Back in the early days of Facebook applications there was a seemingly innocent app about some kind of compatibility with your friends, and I was signed up. Eventually they switched to a dating service and the app all of a sudden started showing comely looking girls on my profile page. I was out of town and my wife convinved herself that it was there because I signed up for a dating service. It took her the better part of a day to settle down.

That sounds an awful lot like Something the creator of 'Mafia Wars' did. (http://www.gotapex.com/1322591-post9.html)
