VCR signal filter

I recall in a past deal something was posted on a signal filter for use with a VCR. Aparently this filter is able to remove unwanted data from an input. Information that might interfere with the signal being recorded properly was removed.
Does anyone remember where I might find this device?

i used to see this at radio shack. i believe it was called a "video enhancer."
