I need some help taking the passenger seat in my wife's car. It has the built in butt warmer. Should I disconnect the battery before proceeding? How hard is it to remove the seat?
On T-day, she put her ring in her pocket while slabbing butter all over the turkey. After she cleaned up, we got in her car and she took out her ring but it slipped. It's not under the seat that we can see. However there's a hole/space where the wires I guess for the butt warmer are. We think it dropped in this space and now is sliding underneath the carpet under the seat.
My plan is to unbolt the seat and cut open the carpet. Sound like a plan?

but yeah, butt warmer, power seats, you should disconnect the battery. with honda, you're going to haev to have the radio code to use the radio after you reconnect, so make sure you know that first.

Is this car new enough to have in-seat side impact airbags? If so, then disconnect the battery, otherwise don't bother.
The seat harness should have a plug (or two) that you can disconnect. No need to disconnect the battery - there won't be any bare wires or anything that could touch/ground against anything.
The power seat won't move once the plug's disconnected, and you'll probably need to move the seat forward and back to get to the bolts anyway, so don't unplug it until after you've unbolted it and you're ready to lift it out of the car.
The heater won't have power unless the ignition switch is on so that won't be an issue at all.
Also, you may not need to cut the carpet - pop the door sill plate off and reach under the carpet.

can you feel the ring through the carpet? do you know exactly where it is?

No. By the process of elimination and hearing it slide that day, I can assume that's where it is.

Taking it to a local auto shop. They'll do it for $80. Yes it has side airbags.
