The fast-food chain will soon offer free wireless Internet access at its U.S. restaurants (http://www.pcworld.com/businesscenter/article/184807/mcdonalds_to_offer_free_wifi_internet_access.html)...

To a road warrior, this is a good thing...

Krystal (http://krystal.com/) (for those of you outside the South, think White Castle with a southern accent...) has free wifi at most of their locations. This almost makes up for their menu.

Sounds pretty useful. Sucks that we have to rely on business to provide free internet. A few years ago it seemed all the rage to make free wifi available for entire cities. Guess that tapered off, but I still think it would be a great way to bring us further into the 21st century. But at the end of the day, it's a few large companies like McDonalds that actually does it. Looks like you can't publish your breakthrough science research paper until you buy a big mac first. Ah, America.

I remember stopping at a Mickey D's with Markel to use their wi-fi while on vacation, only to find that they charged for it. Fortunately, the Hooters next door had a free, strong signal :)
