i love my Motorola Droid.
Though, one thing to clarify... does she want the Motorola Droid, or the Droid Eris? The Motorola Droid is square and kinda ugly (haven't seen the Pre Plus, but since you mentioned it's "sharp", i'm guessing square?), and the HTC Droid Eris is curvier & sleeker, but doesn't have a physical keyboard, and uses an older Android.

it was the droid. but we can wait until june for her before her contract is up for renewal. we just wanted to see what the phones were like since we sorta want to get in on all this smartphone action. :)

today was a big day for droid users =) We got an update for google maps...pinch and zoom! wootwoot! makes the android experience 10x better!
clutchy, the nexus one hasn't been getting that great of reviews lately, but to my knowledge most of the bad reviews have been software, it's slowly getting ironed out though. Def a good phone, the 1ghz snapdragon cpu makes it run really smooth.
ever wonder how they get something to run at 1ghz without a heatsink?

i don't know man but i remember building my bitchin athlon 1ghz computer(my first build ever)... I think it had 256megs of ram. This phone has similar specs and more ram... just think of that it was pretty much just a little less than a decade and my big huge desktop system is now in a phone.
I've read pretty much all the nexus reviews out there and while it has some shortcomings it appears to be a pretty amazing phone. I think ubergizmo.com has had the best review so far.
the droid is really awesome too but i can't stomach going from at&t to a cdma company so... i guess that leaves me with t-mobile or at&t and since companies have stopped using at&t frequencies b/c of the iphone it's time for me to drop the bastard system.

this is true, i didn't like going from gsm to cdma since cdma phones are proprietary. I do travel to hong kong and do like switching out gsm sim cards and being able to use my phone there...no bueno with a cdma phone though.
i say drop ATT!!! hit up verizon!

Saw that on Engadget, looking forward to the update. Hopefully it will be as smooth as the 2.0.1 one was.

though, the rumor is there will be no wrap around drawer menu, or live wallpaper. But i'm ok with that. I'm really looking forward to the news widget, weather widget, and pinch and zoom browser. I'm getting really tired of the weather bug app.
