Ok I have a big problem with them. They basically screwed me, f4cked up and then didn't want to deal with the fact that they f4cked up. I AM SO PISSED. Here is my original confirmation.
Thank you for purchasing from AccessMicro.Com. Your order was
received on Jan 4 2001 8:50AM. Your order number is 634868, online reference
1917674. At this point, we would like to inform you that your order is currently
being processed. As a reminder, the tracking number will be sent to you via e-mail
after your order has successfully shipped. Thank you for shopping at
Accessmicro.Com, and have a great day!
2 weeks go by and no memory. I am like..wth. So I called them up and said, Hey Where is my memory? They proceeded to tell me it was on hold for a promotional item to be included. I was like you are holding my memory for a 50 cent piece of crap? So they said it would be shipped 2nd day. Well 4 days go by, and then I finally receive a package from them. I ordered 256 megs of ram, and I received a stick of 128. So I was like ugh...simple mistake simple fix. Well, I called and the guy told me I had to do all of this bs, fax him the request, they would send me an RMA number, then I have to ship it back to them. Once they receive it they will ship the memory to me that I was supposed to get. I don't think I am going to pay the money to have it shipped...so I decided to check it out on the BBB, and found they have a less than credulous record. I sent this letter to the attorney general:
The following is an excerpt of what I sent to the Attorney General's Office, the State of California:
On 1/4/2001 I ordered by Internet, 256MB RAM and received an order confirmation noting shipment within 2-5 days. When I contacted them on 1/18/2001, they indicated the order was held up due to a wait for a "free" gift. The person contacted stated the RAM would be shipped 2nd day
and the "free" gift would come later. I received the RAM today, by my calculation 4 days later, but it was only 128MB RAM. My credit card has already been charged. I contacted a "Sean" this evening at 7:45PM EST and he
stated that I would have to FAX a request for a RMA, then return the product, and then they would fill the order with the correct material. All of this at my cost.
This appears to me to be fraudulent business practices on their part as I was charged $112.95 but shipped product worth only $30.00. When I mentioned contacting your office, they terminated the call and said, "Go ahead."
I pretty much think that Leon or other GOTAPEX'rs should be aware of this crappy fraudulent business practices. Here I sit with a piece of sh1t 128megs of ram, and out 112.95.

You appear to have a valid complaint.
If this happened to me, I would contact my CC and tell them to stop payment.
You will need to send copies of your confirmation and order.
I would NOT ship MDSE back. Tell them to send a "call tag" for it, and be sure to get a receipt. Save all e-mail.
If they don't pick it up, let it sit. Keep your bank advised of what's going on.

for a forum dedicated to nefarious business practices? i just had a problem with overclockwarehouse.com and want to share with everyone. a place like g|a? gets lots of traffic, it'd do companies well to keep their names out of the forum..

Motabota has the best immediate course of action for you. You have not received the goods for which you have paid, so by law, you are not liable to the charge on your credit card.
Contact your credit card company to start the ball rolling. As mentioned, they'll want a copy of your order and any confirmations that you have received to date. by law, they must then put that charge to your card on hold until the matter is resolved one way or another - during this time, you do not have to pay the charge and the charge cannot accrue interest.
Remember, when you're shopping online, by mail order or by phone, your credit card protects you. :)
Do it *now*. :)

Yep, they messed up big time on your order, but my last 2 orders from them went smoothly (256MB DIMM and a hard drive). I even got those baoding iron balls for free :) .

I had the same problems with McGlen.com which is affiliated with accessmicro.com. I was upgrading the RAM in a friends machine. I ordered 4 32meg sticks and they sent me 4 8meg sticks. I called to tell them and they said it was a compatability issue with my friends computer. I put in 4 32meg sticks in my friends computer that I had in one of my old computers and it worked fine. I called them back and they said to get the RMA number and ship it back. I told them I was not going to pay for their mistake. We went back and forth and finally they said they would send a call tag. It never came. I stopped payment on my cc and called them back. They finally sent the call tag this time. They wanted to send me the right pieces and recharge my cc, but I said I wanted nothing more to do with them. I got a $10 gift certificate a few months later. I dont think I will be using it.

I just called Eva's numbert and extension and some guy named chad answered and told me that she no longer works ofr the company and that he would forward me to another customer rep.
So Apex you should get in contact with these people and find out what is going on.
I have ordered twice and both time never got my order and ended up having to call and cancel.

Bad time to ask, but would you be interested in sharing the unused GC with one of us(preferably me) so that we can at least steal $10 more of accessmicro's money?

Resented, keep us updated. By putting a hold on your cc it gets the cc involved and they can put major pressure on any company that is serviced by Visa or MC.
Not to bad mouth companies, but I have had trouble with a few companies in the past--Techstore, Mwave, etc. Putting a hold on the cc got a response really fast. They paid the fed-ex charge and cross shipped the right item.
Another thing. I don't think McGlenns is just affiliated with AccessMicro, I think they are one in the same.
I contacted them today. She's been replaced by Chad Bowser:

Please keep me informed on how it goes.

Yeah Apex!
Nice to see you step in with the goods!
<----- bought once from Access, no problems. Reffered a friend, same.
Majority of companys will not accept returns without "RMA'S". Not too far out of line of them to ask for one, although he should have just issued one at the time of the call me thinks.
G'luck!

The only bad experience I ever had with AccessMicro was that I placed an order with a PO Box as a shipping address and their system rejected it (because UPS doesn't do PO Boxes) but they never called me - apparently a system glitch with their new computers, but they sent it off right away as soon as I called to find out why I hadn't gotten anything. My only other complaint is that they ship everything separately, but perhaps that's because they use different manufacturers with different warehouses. I dunno.

I went through a very similar situation but the credit card company (bank) will insist you ship the memory back before they remove the charges. You should send it return receipt and provide a copy for the bank.
Of course you should cool off first and call AccessMicro back a second time and ask that they send a pick-up. If they say no, get names! They should pay for their mistakes - not you.
Hey Apex, whatever happened to the RhinoPoint disaster ? Did anyone ever track them down ?
Glenn (TV Doc)
ps - you should tone down your anger when communicating with them too.

Well I will give them a call today. Don't worry I have yet to take my anger out on them, its quite the opposite on my first call they took out anger on me. Now I must wait for the West side to wake up...

blueribb - AFAIK, you can also suspend a charge on your credit card if you still have goods that were shipped to you so long as the goods are faulty and the company will not deal with the problem, or you received the wrong goods in your order and the company will not handle it.
A charge on a credit card is only valid if:
1. The goods were ordered non-fraudulently,
2. The amount charged is the amount agreed upon by both parties,
3. The goods received are as specified, and are in good working order.
This is basically because a contract is in effect, and if any of these criteria are not met, the contract is broken then you are within your rights to ask your bank to investigate the charge as a means of getting it sorted out.
Now, as part of the investigation, the bank may ask that all goods be returned. However, if the company converned will not cooperate, the goods are the bank's problem, not yours.

Try contacting one of the Chen brothers. I've found that often you can get a very good response by contacting the domain registrant (and having their phone number and email makes it real handy), because when your issue is passed on by them, it comes down from the top.

Great post fakesurfer. Do you mind telling us how you were able to find the names of the owners of the domain? Not that I've had any trouble with them since I havent bought from them before and probably never will after reading all your bad experiences with them. Thanks for posting them though everyone. It keeps people aware of how companies like this treat their customers and for their potential customers to think twice before dealing with them.

Ok, here is what they have now promised.
They are sending me out the 256 megs of ram, first he tried to tell me that it was the right memory, then I told him...it has a sticker on it saying its 128megs. Then he said, ok we will ship you the 256 meg stick, and I will send for a calltag with ups. When we receive the memory, we will then reduce from the price you paid, to the price it is today. So I guess after a few weeks of crap I get the memory, at the price it is today, not when I placed my order, and they are expensing the mistake not me.
Thanks for helping out Apex. If it weren't for GotApex I think I would have had to eat this one.
I will let you know if they still screw me over, as for now I should see 256 megs of ram monday. If not I will post again.

Resented,
There is no reason to let them screw you.
As long as there is a way to fight them, don't let them beat you. Make sure you get the LOWEST price for the 256 MB. If the price went up, you want the price as ordered. If it went lower, you want the best price. Remember, this is THEIR mistake, not yours.
It's easy for a seller to be a "good guy" when the sale goes smoothly. It's when a problem occurs, like in your case, that we find out how well they handle it. It appears to me that ACCESS MICRO is not good at taking care of problems. They should be watched by all, and we should post all trouble with them.
If you want to be complacent, and let them shaft you without a fight, you are part of the problem. When you stand up to them and insist they make the transaction as agreed, you are part of the solution. If more people rammed their "errors" down the vendors throats more often, I assure you there would be fewer mistakes.
I'm glad you stayed with it, and hope it all works for you.
