I would like to buy a USB tv tuner to run on my Asus 1000HE Netbook. The tuner is ASUS My Cinema U3100 MINI ATSC - QAM/PLUS USB 2.0 HD TV Tuner and can be viewed here... http://www.jr.com/asus/pe/ASU_MYCINU3100/#productTabReviews (BTW, it's a good buy, $24 shipped after rebate). My Asus Netbook uses the Atom N280 Processor (1.66 GHz, FSB: 667MHz) and the minimal requirements is the Pentium M 1.3ghz or Pentium 4 2.6ghz.
Is the Atom cpu equal to the Pentiums I listed?

Maybe I should have put this in the "Hardware" forum.

=) can't help you. sorry.
I assume that you have onboard graphics; i'm thinking Intel GMA950 chipset. If that is the case, I think the HDTV will be very choppy since the GMA950 chipset is for basic stuff.
If you have a geforce chipset in your netbook, which i think is available on some 10"-12" netbooks, then it might work.

it uses an older chipset - it might be ok at 720p, but that's about it. You'd have to try it.

My HP Mini 110 has the same specs, and for me it depends on what im doing. Hulu is choppy as hell full screened, but divx movies play without a problem.
I would think the TV tuner should be fine...I cant imagine its real requirements are a 1.3ghz pc.
The biggest benefit to netbook speed in my experience is installing the OS yourself, and cutting down on the crap. Turn off services, remove things from startup (run msconfig), etc.

I would think the majority of the reason for the high specs would be for the recording ability.
