i have two computers on my home wireless network and when i run a bandwidth speed test, one gets about 8mb/s and one gets 17mb/s. they're both set up with the same router, same browser, sitting next to each other, etc.

the only thing i can think it could be is the laptop is using a built-in wireless device while the dell desktop is using a usb wireless device. perhaps it's not on a usb 2.0 port? dunno.

help!

Do they have identical receivers?? That would probably be the main difference if they are not the same.

USB vs USB 2.0 could be a difference as well... Try swapping the receivers if you can to test the theory.
