I recently upgraded to win 2000, and everything worked well until i went to burn a cd. The cd
burning software i was using (CeQuadrant) kept giving me this error:
GRI Error
____________
! SCSI Error:
No SCSI host adapter found
I decided to try CDRWin, and i got an error dealing w/ ASPI adaptor

I asked a friend who upgraded to win2000 and he told me he experienced the same problem. He basically told me this:
1) Download aspichk.exe from adaptec.com
2) Run the aspichk.exe and verify that you have some sort of aspi layer installed
3) If none is present, download a zip that contains adaptec .dlls & extract it to Winnt/system32
This makes aspi32.exe think theres a previous version, so an upgrade is possible.
4) Download aspi32.exe from adaptec.com
5) run the aspi32.exe. This will upgrade the ASPI layers to the latest build
6) reboot
the only problem i find w/ this is a warning on the adaptec website: Do NOT install ASPI32.EXE with Windows 2000, Windows ME, Easy CD Creator 4.x, or with Windows Media Player 7.0. If you have one of these applications (or OS), you will be using a different aspi layer that will conflict with the one provided in this file.
Is this safe, or is there a better way to allow me to burn cds in win2k?
