yeah, I was really tempted before to get the sports pack too.. the black console was the pretty much the only reason. Since the games that come with aren't really my kind of games......but it's alright... I can live without the black console. The 50 bucks I saved, or should I say the 30 bucks I saved can go towards the DC games I'm gonna buy.. like Shenmue... woohoo!!!

It's a shame...the best console on the market...is offically dead.

Sega won't be producing any more systems, will concentrate on software.

well, it was $150 with free shipping...so that is something

i hear that sega will be putting its chips in the xbox and in some multimedia thing. it may also be outsourced. so it shouldnt be dead-dead

Sega is dropping the price of the Dreamcast to $99.85 US as of February 4th, 2001.

You may want to wait.

It was kind of funny: I went into Best Buy last night and they had the regular DC for $150 and the Smash Pack for $119. There was only one Smash Pack left and I grabbed it. One of the sales clerks suggested that the Smash Pack had a repackaged DC in it and that I should get the regular one. I think someone wanted the last Smash Pack for himself :)

Also, the best deal (if you can find it) is still at Sam's Club. Dreamcast, VMU 2 controllers and a game for $150. The Sam's I went to had sold out of them. When I asked if they had any more the (obviously new) clerk said that they never sold DCs. I said "oh, that DC display model must have been one that I forgot here, can I take it home?" He went with me and I showed him the DC sitting there hooked up to one of the TVs. He was a little embarassed. He then said that he would check with his manager to see if the display model was for sale as he figured I could get it for a "steal." It looked like it had been used by every dirty-fingered kid in the area. I passed on that "deal."

Anyone know if Sega is going to sell the classics game separately without the Dreamcast console?

I hope they sell it separately!

As long as it is around $20.

I just spoke with a guy at Best Buy. He said that his manager had announced that the Smash Pack Disc (or something similar)would be in stores this month. Its supposed the be $24.95 or so. Anyway, hope that helps any of you make a decision on which version of the system to purchase.
