got to love the wife she screwed up my printer or daughter did.
anyway its screwed up kind of. its a epson all in one cx8400 printer.
today wife saids the unit wont read her CF card. I go and check it out and when you insert the card in the reader it turns off the printer. im like WTF so i pull the card and hit the power switch and it turns on, so i go and insert my SD card and no problem unit stays powered up and all fine .
how in the hell did she or the daughter screw up the port . and like always they have no idea how it happen. sure glad i dont use the CF normally. also glad i own a extra usb CF card reader so she can use her cards on my machine . wish she would of scred it up and not the printer as i own 2 of them.

About the only thing I can think of is that when inserting or removing the card, she ended up applying too much force the wrong way and managed to bend a few pins in the CF connector on the printer. When she plugs the card in, it causes a short and the printer shuts down.

Of course, sometimes logic doesn't come into play, but that's my story and I'm sticking to it. :)

i was thinking along the same lines...also ti could be a loose wire that is being affected by the pressure applied inserting the CF card.
