Damn I hate MS.

Everything was going fine until about 2 hours ago. I tried to open my D: folder and it froze, so i closed the window and tried to do it again, this time i tried to open My Computer and it froze again!! I dont know what to do. I have no clue whats wrong, it keeps freezing. I can still access my files through other programs like winamp, but explorer crashes.

Try these fixes in this order:

Reinstall IE5.5
(Re)Install Service Pack 1
Format hard drive, install Red Hat :P

I think Adobe Acrobat caused it! cause i installed it right before the problem started, and a couple hours after i uninstalled it, it started working fine again

I've been having the same problem. I think it has something to do with IE5.5 but i've been too lazy to uninstall it.

Leave it to MS to screw-up another MS product. Whenever I use media player to watch any type of video file, it'll reboot. Go figure. The thing is it's pissing me off. The same files work fine on my brother's and my dad's computers. I just upgraded the Detonator drivers from 6.31 to 6.50. Could that be the culprit? I even tried uninstalling Windows Media Player 7 and used the older version and it still crashed. Then I reinstalled Media Player 7 and again it crashed? What to do, what to do.

what was the last change you made before it started crashing? Undo it, if it was the drivers, use the old ones.

I hate that program... GDivx all the Way! My win2k also crashed, but I have Sp1 5.5 and Acrobat 4.5beta installed just fine... I think it is the constant load on my hard drive, I will probably attempt installing a fan on my hard drive.

Well it was the blasted new driver set. I reverted to the older Detonator and voila, I'm watching video on demand and movies.

i've been running win2k for close to a year with no problems until recently. while i do believe linux to be a very reliable OS, possibly slightly more than win2k, win2k gives you a lot more.
