the one that screws up your internet and tells you your infected .and you need to buy the antivirus software they have . you think they would track down the source and nail the SOBS behind it already and are software we able to stop it from afficting are machines that are keep up to date

i was just on gotapex and pca and this dam crap walked in to my computer there was nothing running and it slip[ in past my fire wall . i sure wish someone made a antivirus software /melware program that really worked on this crap. before it affected your harddrive and bitch is i couldn't run crap after it showed up to try and remove it without tearing the harddrive out and running it as a slave on a diffrent rig.:fal:

free malewarebytes: download/update it then run in safe mode.

after update your firefox and ad adblock to it.
might want to reinstall it to be safe. save your bookmarks if you need to.

happened to me a few weeks ago thanks to the 8yo. malwarebytes in safe mode works.

Happened to me and my friend. Used malwarebytes in safe mode to remove.

Windows System Restore often isn't enough, since quite a few viruses will actually remain on the system.

Keep Adobe Reader, Flash, Java, and other add-ons up to date as unpatched versions are vulnerable to attacks like these.

I fix these the same way you do - slave the infected drive into my XP desk box which runs Microsoft Security Essentials and clean it that way. I am also running Immunet Protect (http://www.immunet.com/main/index.html), which is cloud-based antimalware. It does not conflict with MSE nor does it slow things down.

I found that the FileHippo Update Checker (http://www.filehippo.com/updatechecker/) is good for finding patches and updates - run it once a week or so.

Also, image your fresh installs (http://redobackup.org/) - this saves disaster recovery time.
