They have some links to sites that charge $5 to give you the same information that Carfax charges you $30 for. Anyone use them yet? It took 17 years to create this governmental body I heard.

While researching used cars and carfax, I've found that it's not accurate at all. My Civic had 2 major accidents but none show up according to carfax. The information comes from the DMV which brings up my next question. Are you legally required to report an accident to your car to the DMV?

info in car fax only shows dealer visits and insurance claims on cars there a lot it miss. i still will pay to have a shop check out a use car I'm buying. to much stuff is missing in a car fax report .but most dealers and used car lots love to use them as a sales tool.even if they know there not accurate a good part of the time.
