Title says it all. After unplugging it accidentally the external HDD isn't recognized anymore. The HDD will light up and the motor will spin up, but the drive will no longer show up in windows (Win 7). The HDD is, however, recognized on any other computer and the data is fine.
Googling hasn't helped too much. I've learned that I can plug it into another computer, back up the data and reformat the drive. I'm wondering if there is any easier way to bring the drive back to life.
thanks!

have you tried a different USB port?

Pardon me for stating the obvious, but have you tried rebooting Windows 7 to see if that makes a difference?

Also check in Disk Management to see if it's assigning it the same drive letter as one of your other drives - I see that a lot with flash drives.

To follow up with Jeffbx's line, have you looked in Disk Management when the drive is connected to see if there are any drives without a letter assigned?
