driving to ensenada from SD

hey guys,

have any of you driven from SD to rosarito or ensenada? apparently, ensenada isn't that far (like 1.5 hours without traffic). is it a nice drive? safe drive? stupid drive? just curious. flights to SD are super cheap right now and my wife and i might want to go for a short trip.

My take--it's "pretty safe". But that wouldn't be good enough for me. I have heard a few bad stories from people at work who were pulled over and shaken down by crooked cops. And the violence down there just adds to the risk. A good buddy of mine is Mexican; he used to head down there on a regular basis. He won't go now. Again, not that something bad is likely to happen, but it's still not worth the risk to him. If you drive make sure you get insurance that covers you past the border.
