i just order a Panasonic DY-WL10 Blu-Ray Player USB Wireless Adapter. decide to go this route unstead of running a rj45 cable to my unit from my wireless router.
can anyone give me feed back as to how its worked using this type of yourself. like lag time and picture quality in general.
I'll need it or hard wire to do netflix and youtube ?
I do own a panasonic tv and blue-ray units. I also know I had to buy a panasonic wireless adapters as you can't mix and match per all i have read. there is not any generic wireless adapers avail.
on a side note did fine it at a good price after a little net surfing for like 1/2 what most places had it going for new.

if your router is N, and the signal quality is good, you should be ok. i've found that with G, anything hd starts skipping.

i love the panasonic information that came with the unit also there web site. totally useless as to how to setup using the unit. i feel for the home owner who has little or no understanding of networking . you have to go though your setup menu on your blueray or some tv that have a usb port. i bet a lot of these units are sold by commision or brownie point sales people to the general public .as a sales add on and the home owner gets them home and never figures out how to use them.

I use a Roku box over a G network & have never had any problems with skipping or pausing on HD streaming. My connection is pretty fast, tho - about 20Mb

you'll have no problem for the internet connection. I mentioned N connection, because i've tried to play an hd movie from my hard wired desktop to my wireless laptop and have had skipping/lagging issues.
this was an .avi file, so it may not have been as compressed as well as newer forms of streaming video.

if jeff is getting seamless streaming to his box, i think you'll be fine.

Ah yeah - the Roku buffers it pretty well. I'd assume (hope, anyway) the blu-ray would do the same to avoid lag.
When I start an HD video it buffers for about a minute before it begins to play, but then that's the only delay I see.

Jeffbx gave me advice that solved the problem, this is what he said to do, "Right click My Computer & choose Manage
In the left side of Computer Management, click on Disk Management
You should see your new drive as unallocated or unformatted or similar -Right click on the new space & choose 'new partition'. You can create multiple partitions here if you like - otherwise choose the default of making the entire drive into a single partition.
Once the partition is created, right click again & choose 'format'"

oh, and i realized it wasn't even a .avi file. it was a .dvr-ms file. the format that windows media center records to.
