It really depends on which field/companies you'd like to work for, and how much work experience you have. For example, consulting firms like Anderson (sp?) consulting (or whatever the heck their name is now) wouldn't consider any recent graduate with less than a 3.95/4.00 GPA. But after working a few years, few companies would care about your academic GPA.

But in my opinion, college/university should be more than getting a high GPA. ;)

it depends on your field. on my resume, i didn't include my cumulative gpa since it was <3.0, but i included my gpa within my major (and had it marked as so) which was much much higher since i used to focus on my major classes and blow off all the gen. ed./liberal arts type classes. for all but one of the six companies i interviewed at, it was enough. the other company wanted my transcript. not the best.
but college is about having fun as well as classes. don't forget about the fun part. one of the last classes i took at school was the history of prostitution.

If you're looking to get drafted into a top-notched consulting firm like Andersen Consulting (now Accenture) or Deloitte & Touche, you need to have a really nice GPA. I went to a job faire, and they would not even take your resume if you GPA wasn't above 3.5 (this was at UCSD).

But for the most part, if you want start on the bottom and work up, GPAs don't mean much. In the end, experience and knowledge will vastly overshadow your GPA.

Have fun in college, it will be your last chance before you start working ridiculous hours... That is, unless you are working with Got|Apex? :heh:

They've probably been too busy with the page update to do the deals section

Your GPA won't make much of a difference unless its above 3.5 or so. Then it will be an asset to you in your resume. More importantly, though, a lot of companies will check your transcript and see how you handle you last semester or two. Its a very common mentality to blow off the end, as you seem to have possibly planned out, and companies will jump on this as showing that your placing little weight on real accomplishment and just trying to cash in on the opportunities that a college diploma provides. I know people who got recruitment offers and were hired on by good companies, only to be dumped later on once the company found out they blew off their last semesters, figuring it didn't matter now that they landed the job.

No no...He meant that there were actually deals posted on the weekend! :D Apex has some help with deals now occasionally, so there will probably be deals on the weekend, even if there aren't a ton of them.

for architecture grad school, they mostly look at your portfolio and recommendations too. Grade-wise, junior and senior year grades count the most. But like other fields mentioned above, later on in the game it's mostly your work experience that counts.

heheh
whats a gpa
at my college were more worried bout our bal
heheh
heres the winning adivce
its a good mix of both
study hard all week and fridaynight
saterday get up early take it easy
DO NOT opena book
spend most of the day watching TV or somthing non-brain active
blast you mind away on partying that night
sleep till noon or two or so on sunday take it easy for a few more hours
study for like 2 hrs sunday night
then hit it hard again on monday morn

as long as you keep it only one night a week <and on a weekend> and do you part during the week
then you will be fine

Also, Compaq, TI, Teradyne, and Siemens are interested in me too... so maybe GPA is not all that's important because I do have so good work experience already even though I am only a 3rd year student.

I'm graduating in may, and my GPA sux. However, I've gotten a job offer (programming, ece major). I've been refuesed interviews because of my gpa, and gotten treated pretty poorly at job fairs because of gpa. If you have over a 3.0, don't sweat it too bad. But, if you really want some good companies, go crazy. The company that i was most discouraged by was google, cause i thought that was a really cool company to work for....but, they like good gpa's.

Oh, and since it's your senior year, what kind of classes are you going to have, i.e. what's your major. Cause a lot of it is project classes, which can be fun. So, you'll kinda want to put some effort into it.
