Wasn't sure where to post this, but the title speaks for itself. Does anyone have any good experiences with bike locks that they'd recommend. I picked up a bike yesterday and will start riding it to the train. It's not a super expensive bike, but I'd rather invest 20 bucks on a good lock then have to buy a new bike.

i dont use them to lock bikes. but i do lock up my ladders on my work truck. I do now and then end up in lets just say not very nice areas of town.

Wow, no kidding Reno. There's some expensive stuff in there.

cruelpupet, I went to Home Depot and ordered 40 feet of 1/3 inch thick link. I also got 5 hardened padlocks. Do you think this will be enough?

Ive heard of people putting painters tape on the bike and spray painting it, making it look worse/cheaper

That's an interesting idea. It would also make it very easy to recognize if someone who stole it didn't have the IQ to repaint it.
