I bought a Dell Streak for $50 with a deal from here and have been playing around with it since. If I read correctly on Skype's site they only have Skype for Android if you have a Verizon wireless account. I signed up for Google Voice, but it keeps wanting to use my actual cell phone number for calls when I go through setup. I'm going to keep trying to figure out if I did something wrong during setup, but so far I haven't been able to get the phone number they assigned into the device.
Anyone have a similiar issue, or is there an alternative free voice product for Android that I missed?
Thanks

it's no longer a verizon requirement:

and google voice is acting like it's supposed to. the normal behavior of google voice is to use your regular phone. there are hacks to change that, but i haven't researched that.

Thanks, I think this is the answer. I tried downloading, but had a problem with setup, but I'm pretty sure I did something wrong. I'm going to give it a try again this weekend, and hopefully get it working.

Fring works ok. The best option in my opinion is "Tanga". It's cross-platform. I had an Evo for a while and I could video chat with i*****s. Just kidding. iPhones.

Is there a way to disable this? It's not a problem, but it is annoying.
