Anyone using Sprint out there?
Since the news that Verizon is going to axe their unlimited planes I've decided I'm going to go to a more customer friendly company.
(Don't get me started on ATT, and Tmobile is consequently not an option)
I'm thinking about doing a 4G phone. I'd love the idea of being able to tether it for work, or even using it as a wifi hotspot for my ipad.
What's your opinion of Sprint? Got any phone recommendations? (Should I wait until the next release of HTC phones?)

Just like any other carrier, it depends on your area. Sprint and Verizon have roaming agreements, so if Verizon is fine for you now, you shouldnt have any black holes.
I have sprint, but in my area (NYC) I never roam, so im not sure if call handoffs are done or if youll lose the call and just have to redial.
Also, you should have time as they will honor it (unlimited) for at least as long as you have your contract usually.
I dont think the AT&T and T-Mobile merger will go through, so dont count on that as increasing AT&Ts network coverage.

I'm actually not on an unlimited plan yet, but Verizon charges through the nose and I'm making a statement that I don't like metered usage by switching. I've been happy with the service, but Verizon/ATT mindset seems to be around what they want, not what their user base wants. My only choice is to vote with my dollars.
My comment about the merger was that I liked how Tmobile treated their customers, and I can tell you ATT's wireless customer service is the worst of the big guys. I'm not thinking it will increase coverage, but they'll kill Tmobile's customer friendly business model. (Look at what happened to Cingular.)
So until we know what is going to happen there, I won't go near TM. That leaves me with Sprint.
Sprint is pretty solid here, and we have 4G available. What do you think of their phones: do they have any must haves?
Do you do any tethering or making your own wifi hotspot?

I would say wait. I'm pretty sure Sprint doesn't have any dual core phones yet, but I have fallen behind recently in keeping up with all the gizmos.
Edit: nevermind, I think they do. I'd still wait for the next HTC powerhouse though. I've never gone wrong with them.

Kind of stupid in some ways...yeah, I think so, but it should still be an awesome phone.

Im still on my Pre, kinda waiting for a Pre3 even though i have an EVO 4G I havnt activated yet. If the pre3 isnt announced soon Ill swap the Evo for the Evo3D as Im guessing it'll have a slighly better proc for watching divx movies (I found the Evo4G stutterring a bit)
I havnt tethered in a long time as I dont need it often.

ah, thanks.
Also, slashdot posted today that Tmobile is now ending their unlimited plans. *shocker*
Consumers lose yet again.

I went from AT&T to Virgin Mobile about 6 months ago and I'm loving it. The Optimus V phone isn't the most powerful out there, but it's a great Android phone. The nice thing was for $40 a month you can get unlimited Data, texting and 1200 minutes and no contract. My wife and I each have one and it's saving up almost $40 a month over our old ATT lines. The only downside is that they don't have roaming so there are a few wholes in the data coverage, but it't not been bad at all. If you live in an area with good coverage in general and don't have a whole family to get phones for it's worth looking at.

I have Sprint and I'm pretty happy with it.
Only thing that makes me mad is that 4G hasn't rolled out in Indy yet... but that is a factor of Comcast and Brighthouse causing issues for that. If they would ever resolve that, then I'd be all good with Sprint.

I have the HTC Inspire 4G On ATT with Unlimited Plan. Love the phone so far, just got it "Free" the other day (Along with the new Lady Gaga CD Thrown in free - although I'm not sure that's a bonus.)
I haven't had that many issues with AT&T, hopefully the new Cell Tower Tech that's making its rounds will change their views on unlimited data for everyone, as it allows 30% more throughput, they can get rid of traditional expensive cell towers, plus the land rental fees.. Supposed to be rolling out in 2012 if all goes well, most likely all services will start using them.

I'm surprised that Sprint went from dead last in customer service to #1.
@cp - I tried the Pre on Verizon and although I loved the OS, I couldn't stand the keyboard. How do you like it? Isn't mobile hotspot free using the Pre now or any other WebOS phone?

Love the keyboard, but its similar to the treos and ive used them for almost 8 years now.
I think out of the 3 major players (iOS, Android, and Blackberry) WebOS is the most intuitive.
Not sure about mobile hotspot. I dont think its officially free, just plenty of apps to make it that way.

Yeah, I know the 4G (Across the board all providers) has been a sham. And AT&T Seems to be worse than others. But I was already on AT&T, with a Family plan with my wife. She just recently got an iPhone so I wasn't looking to switch.
The phone was 'free' with commitment. And it's faster than my Blackberry Bold, with a lot larger screen. So 4G Sham or not, didn't really matter that much.
