I have a Seagate FreeAgent Desktop 500 Gig hard drive that my wife stole from me. Today she comes to me visibly upset and tells me that she destroyed the drive. Sure enough, the attachment point for the USB cable has fallen off.
I take it apart and found that the port has come off the board. the 5 contact points plus 4 attachment points. I have never had to reattach something like a USB terminus to a printed board. My questions are: 1)the contact points - were they likley solder or simple contact? 2) is it possible to repair something like this or since it was a chip on a board am I SOL?
Any ideas?
Thanks
