I may have a failing router. I have a Linksys WRT54G and it is at least 5 years old. It could be good old RoadRunner denying a problem, but the drops I'm having are random, and I show a connection until I disconnect the router and then when it is plugged back in I get a good signal again. I maybe jumping the gun, and Monday I plan on running direct from the Modem to see if I have the same problem, but guessing I maybe due for a new router anyway.
Any thoughts on a good current router? I prefer hardwire and wireless capability. I use 3 of the hard wire ports everyday, and prefer it for security for what I do, even though the likelihood of someone tapping into my work via wireless is remote, I am a paranoid person. The wireless is for my wife and kids on their laptops, and my Dell Streak that I got with a GotApex deal.
Thanks for any ideas!
Off on a roadtrip to look at Golden Retriever puppies, but will check in as soon as I get back. Yea Kind of psyched for a new pooch, like I need anything else draining money. :))

WNDR3700, just bought 2 of them a few months back. Gigabit ports and can run 2 separate wireless networks (b/g on 2.4 and N on 5ghz) at the same time.

Gizmodo also tested it as having one of the best coverage areas.

Thank you, I will look into it. Planned to research today and haven't been in the house all day.

I also thank you. I've had an odd issue lately when I load a page with multiple images/links on it.

Google Maps hoses up my connection as well as forums that attempt to load a bunch of images. It's almost like there's some kind of flood control that's kicking in but I can't figure it out for the life of me. A simple unplug/plugin of the wireless router resets it fine.

Sounds like its not releasing the connections. I had a cheap vpn firewall back in the day that would do that anytime I was on a P2P network.

Interesting. I'm not doing any P2P, but if I hit Google Maps I know I'll be unplugging/plugging it back in like clockwork.

Looks like $114 is the cheapest I can find it new.
