DULUTH, MN (Northland's NewsCenter) - With less than two hours before the deadline, Governor Mark Dayton said a shutdown will happen, if the GOP do not come to the table and raise taxes, adding he's seen no sign of that happening tonight.
The GOP have been pushing him to pass an interim "lights-on" bill to keep the government functioning while GOP leaders and the governor hash out the final details of the budget.

The Republicans had entered the chamber shortly after 8 p.m. to hold a sit-in showing they're ready to work, meanwhile protesters continued to rally outside.
Again tonight Governor Dayton said, "I will not agree to anything, until I agree to everything."
He said the basic difference holding the budget up is the same as it has been since the beginning - Governor Dayton wants the budget fixed by raising taxes of the wealthiest Americans, and the GOP refuse to see any taxes raised.
Governor Dayton said he has now proposed a deal which only raises taxes on those making a million dollars or more and the GOP have so far refused it.
The governor says he will continue to reach-out to the Republicans to make a deal as soon as possible.
As of earlier today, traffic cams, state parks and rest stops were already shut down.
As many as 2,000 state workers in northeastern Minnesota will be laid-off along with 34,000 other workers in Minnesota.
What are safe from the shutdown are vital services like local government aid for cities and health and welfare programs.

With thise, state parks are closing and campers are being forced out, we can no longer get fishing liscenses, no more lottery tickets, thousands of people getting laid off. This is really too bad that the lawmakers couldnt reach an agreement. This is really screwing a lot of people. Especially when we celebrate our idependence for those previous political figuerd who fought against terrible adversity, now we are fighting over money.........very frustrating.
