Meh so far. I like the Circles feature. Easy to drag and drop people into these groupings. I don't like how it suggests everyone I ever emailed or talked to..ever! I'm not even sure I know some people they suggest. Not sure why it wants to pull every gmail/gchat away message I ever had and every buzz comment I made. Thankfully not that much. It also lists every +1 you ever hit next to a link (I've never done this). So if you ever +1 some porno site or some furries fanclub, it's going to pop up. Again, I haven't done this as I'm just illustrating examples. I can easily +1 gotapex.com and I'm sure it'll be listed.
I think the difference for Google+ and Facebook is how much control I have on who sees what without delving into folders and subfolders. Everything seems to be on by default. I'd be wary jumping in if you have some personal Picasa pics you don't want to share. The other difference is no apps or games. So if you think you can waste time doing that then well you're wasting your time looking for that feature. It's not there...yet.
Time will tell.

I'm very wary of Google at this point, they're getting just too goddamn big and powerful. I got an invite to Google+ from a friend but I'm really not interested in going through all of what you just described. Currently backing away from my gmail account because the way it targets ads based on email content is already too invasive for me. At this rate Google will run the world in about 2 years.

I was also surprised that it wanted to add every single person I've ever sent or received an email from. Fortunately, gmail is not my primary email or it would have taken forever to weed through everyone.
I'm not a big facebook user, but comparing the two Google does seem a little easier. However, I'm also a little wary of the 'send everything to everyone' mentality.

I use gmail as my primary email just because of the tons of spam from yahoo and hotmail. I don't mind the targeted ads since I don't click on them anyways.
I'm getting used to Google+ but without more people switching over it'll go the way of Google Wave. I like the fact you can choose who sees what content you post. The Sparks feature is nice. I trust Google more than I trust Facebook for sure.

That's precisely what Google+ isn't. Circles make it so you don't "Send everything to everyone" when you post. You COULD do it, but you have the choice. It's not just posting on your wall and everyone sees it.
From what I've seen many people are joining Google+ a lot faster than they joined Orkut, Wave, Buzz or any other Google Attempt.

From what I've seen, you have to explicitly 'share' photos with groups. It's not automatic. Also you can turn your +1's off, and I noticed it's also Off by default.
Also clicking on +1 is when you WANT other people to know you like a website. So if you +1 a Porn Site.. uhhh... humm well I guess you want people to know you like it.

Wave was a big disappointment - I'm surprised they didn't promote that more, because that had the potential to compete directly with MS Sharepoint.
But yeah - people are clamoring to join Google+ right now. I think we'll see everything bumping down a level - Google+ will replace Myspace; Myspace will slide into Facebook realm; and I don't know, Facebook will become the new AOL?

Do you mean Google will replace Facebook? If Google replaces Myspace, something Rupert Already killed, it's not that much of an accomplishment. Google can get 35 million users in a couple days time.

Facebook > Myspace > Twitter > Google+
At least that's what the current traffic is saying. Twitter will overtake Myspace in the next 6 months.

Duh I'm stupid. Instead of seeing the whole list of possible who can join me circles all the time, I can click the X so they don't show up again.
I like the Sparks feature more and more. It's a list of saved Google searches. So if I wanted to see Gears of War 3 updates, I can save the search and click it. It also makes sharing videos or link easier on Google+.
I think the trend is just calling it G+ now.

Google+ is Beta, and just rolling out. Some estimates show their numbers could be as high as 10 million already. But that's just estimates, Google hasn't released statistics yet.
Google+ will overtake MySpace and Twitter in a matter or weeks. Facebooks 750 million users will be a harder hurdle to clear.

Oops yes, got those reversed.
It'll be Google > Facebook > Myspace.
I don't think Twitter is in the same category - that's kind of off to one side. It's all social networking, but I see the three above more like scrapbooking/graffiti portals, while Twitter is more like some hyper kid standing on a corner shouting at the world that he just went to Wal-mart.

The report I was looking at was unique visitors per month; not membership size.
I'm still trying to get the hang of G+.

Yeah, you won't get "unique" visitors though, until more people find out about it.
But "unique" is a misnomer as well. Because if it's tabulated weekly, if you have an account, and login at least once a week, you'll be counted as a Unique visitor, once per week.
As for the comment on Twitter not really being related, that it true. Twitter is 'social networking' but it's more of a niche market.
There is room for other 'niche' market Social Networks, but there can be only one "General" social network, in my opinion.
