Okay I got a question here..........

Today I witnessed someone at Walmart buying some rather unusal itmes and it got me really curious. First off, I generally dont judge people on apperaance, but there are some poeple you kind of get an uneasy feeling about when you see them. This particular person really gave me that vibe. Whether it was the neck tattoo, the multipule facial piercings, the shirt that included a drug reference, and how she was cussing loudly and graphically in public in just normal conversation. Either way, I woulndt trust this person.

What she purchased is what got me curious. First item, a digital scale. Second item, toothpaste. Lots and lots of toothpaste. She bought like 20 tubes, maybe more. Excpet for a bottle of soda, this was all she purchased.

So this got me wondering. Can you make drugs, such as meth, or something else, out of toothpaste. I tried to rationalize this, thinking maybe something to do with the flouride in it or something. I have never heard of this before but it wouldnt suprise me. ANyone ahve any ideas or experience with this???

Never heard of toothpaste being used as an ingredient, and google returned nothing.

As for your assumption based on appearance..

I heard there is a new process for making meth that only requires mixing some ingredients in a soda bottle and leaving it in the sun or something like that. No cooking, no explosions, etc. Maybe she got the ingredients somewhere else.

I'm not aware of any drug that can be made with toothpaste. Do remember what kind of toothpaste it was? Perhaps there's some kind of "sensitive teeth" tooth paste that has lidocaine or something in it that could be extracted and used for making a narcotic?

thats the thing, I dont remember. As for the appearance, like i said, i dont like to judge on appearance, the conduct had something to do with it as well

I think you are recalling a press release by some stupid sherrifs office that fell for a prank about getting high off of popp mixed with stuff in a soda bottle and left in the sun.

Well it can READ as Crystal Meth, but I'm pretty sure you can't MAKE it from that.

It's also possible she had a ton of coupons for Cheap Toothpaste? Or she is trying to avoid methmouth by brushing a lot? Who knows, but in the end probably doesn't really matter.

I saw a lady in front of me buy something like 30+ 3 pack Razors, cause she was "Extreme Couponing" and they were basically all free after the discounts. She bought $65 worth of stuff, for around $8.

Nah it's meth in a soda bottle, they call it the "shake and bake" method.

I don't see anywhere that says the meth is left in the sun, so maybe I did get that part mixed up with the poo thing.

Hmmmmm... this article suggests there are chemicals in toothpaste that made this girl test positive for meth.

Also, the FDA says toothpaste is a drug. So, there you go.

Also, the FDA says toothpaste is a drug.

I think this depends on whatever claims the manufacturer makes about the product. If I remember correctly... anything claiming to have a therapeutic effect is a drug, such as if the company claims it treats gingivitis, etc. But if all they say is "makes yer teeth clean" or removes tartar or anything related to just cleaning or visual effect, then it is a cosmetic.

I investigated this a bit a while ago because I make soap and it's the same deal with that... cosmetic versus drug. Plain old soap is just a cosmetic. But if, for example, you put tea tree oil in it and claim that it has antimicrobial properties, then you're straying into drug territory and that's a whole different level of regulation.

Here's a page I bookmarked on it. I didn't reread it because at the moment I'm lazy and I'm just going by memory, so if someone wants to correct me please feel free.

If you were manufacturing drugs and needed a good place to hide product for transportation, toothpaste tubes would be great for something like that.
