Anyone here have any problems with the latest Microsoft updates? I did them on one computer this morning and so far upon restart I only get to the desktop, but no icons and no toolbar across the bottom.
SO far if I hold down the power button to turn it off it cycles immediately into another start instead of turning off completely. I'm going to use the master pwoer button to get it off and then try starting again, and if this doesn't help I guess I do a system restore.
Thanks

ctrl-shift-esc should bring up task manager and do a file\run on explorer. That should bring everything up.

BTW do you have symantec for antivirus?

The latest updates definitely slow down my computer when starting up.

It wouldn't do anything with good ole Ctrl+Alt+del. I had to use the power button on back to shut it down. It booted up fine after that, although it seemed to take longer. I'll see in the morning when I boot it up tommorow if it is still slow.
I'm afraid to do them on my 8 year old Dimension 8300. It might melt down it moves so slow now.

Ahhh, and I forgot to mention I can't read. :)) I'll give it a go on this computer if I have the same issue.
I kind of wish I had been more observant to give that a try, as I have never come across that to bring up the Task Manager before. I guess I hope I don't need to give it a try on this one.
Thanks and sorry for not reading more carefully!

You can also try F8 at startup & choose 'last known good config' to boot with the 'pre-update' config.

Are you on XP or Win7? I've done all of the latest on 7 & everything seems OK.

Win XP computer. It booted up as quick as ever this morning, so all seems to be well with that computer.
This computer seems to be stuck on update 4 of 9 for me. This is also a Win XP. It says Security update for Microsoft.net framework 4 on Windows XP, Windows Server 2003, Windows Vista, Windows 7, Windows Server 2008 x86(KB2539636).
I have a window up for Extracting Files Verifying Files, and nothing has happened in 10 minutes now.

Well it took about 15 minutes and it moved onto the next install and finished off the rest. This computer rebooted if anything faster than normal, roughly 6 minutes. That sounds bad, and is, but for this computer it has been running up to 10 minutes anymore.
