I just purchased the Creative labs 8432E CDRW and the firmware is an older version which wont let me update nero. So when I try to update the firmware it looks for the creative 8432E but finds the 8438E. The drivers wont change this. Creative labs will not help at all. I was wondering if its because I'm running Windows ME? Any input would be great. Thanx.

But that's odd that Creative won't help? :confused:They should be able to stand by there product and provide you with the service that you deserve.

If they don't bring it back and get a plextor. :|

I've got the same drive Creative 8432, and like you Windows ME detects it as an 8433. I have not any operability problems. I have been successful in going to the Nero and Prassi sites to download and run the updates.

Whoops just realized you said 8438... Is yours external, hence the 'E' after the product number?
