I was given a "junker" Inspirion 8200 by someone who was going to trash it. Unfortunately, the computer was passed through an immediary who misplaced the power cord. This is obviously not something I am putting any cash into and I am planning on using it to futz around on. Which brings me to my question...anyone have an old powercord/brick from an 8200 that they no longer have or have no use for that they might be willing to pass along?

Any idea if a power cord and brick from an Inspirion 8000 would work? The screen went bad a year or two ago(maybe 3), and it has been sitting here waiting for me to dismantle and get rid of it. Fortunately it has been out of sight from the wife or it would have been tossed or implanted in my head by now. A few too many old computers sitting around I've been told.
Let me know what you find out, and if it works it is yours.

So basically, are you saying that you are not willing to spend $10 on a new power brick and cord for this old laptop... yet you want someone to send you one that would cost probably about that much in postage to send to you?

C'mon man... spend the $10 and buy one off of eBay.

Seriously...

Calm down DF, I think you may be misreading my post. I asked if anyone had one they no longer have or have no use for that they might be willing to pass along. If it turns out that someone has one that they are willing to pass on, I was going to pay for the postage which I believe would only be a few dollars.

I havent bought anything on e-bay in the past, but I would guess that you pay for shipping on top of the purchase price. Given my past experience with replacing these items on other laptops in the past, they were always in the $80 range new and $40 range used at traditional brick and mortars/from the retailer. Hence the reason I asked if anyone had one they were willing to pass along.

Personally, I have a bin of computer parts collecting metaphorical dust that will likely never be used. If soneone on here needed something that I had no use for, i would be willing to help them out.

Mine shows:
Model ADP-70EB
PA-6 Family

P/N 9364U
50-60Hz 20V
AC 100V 3.5A
120VA

It looks the same as your picture, but I really don' t know if the specs not being identical matters. Let me know.

Actually, I'm very calm here.

I'm just saying that for the odd chance that someone actually has one, you can find one on eBay very cheap... and most of those even had FREE shipping. Go figure. :D

That's why I gave you a link and not just "lip service" for asking why you didn't want to buy one. Pretty much, consider it a "constructive comment". ;)

The main thing is making sure the Amperage is the same otherwise you can have heat problems and other issues.

FYI, you can buy a ton of generic ones off Amazon for a few bucks. They're not quite as durable as OEM, but the've always worked great for me!
