You know what it is. THE line.
"I just want to be friends"
If there was a way to snap verbially, I'd be all over it. But alas, words cannot express what's going on in my head.

You got LJBF'd huh?
Here's my response to that.
Say very politely but confidently, "No thanks, I have enough friends."
That will totally throw her for a curve and rethink what she just said.
No one has the right to be that insensitive-to use those exact words.

I saw a comedy skit this weekend off premium blend about this.
"Ladies, have you ever had one of those guys that are just wonderful, funny, cute, and you like him a lot....but not that way?"
(audience laughs)
"you all suck. Imagine going to a job interview with your resume. When you sit down, they look over your resume and say,
'Congratulations, Sir. You've got all the qualifications we're looking for. You've got a complete resume, a good education, a wonderful personality, and we like your resume so much, we're going to use your resume to compare other resumes. But we're not going to hire you. In fact, we're going to hire someone less qualified. He'll probably have an alcohol and drug problem, take the job less seriously and treat the company like garbage. We'd still like to keep you in our roladex, though. We might even call you occasionally to complain about the guy we did hire.'
It's not nearly as funny seeing me type it, but I though the dude had a good point.
Ladies, don't ever do that to a guy.

It happened to me once in high school and I never forgot it. I vowed not to ever say that to a guy and when I did want to break up, I played it straight and told him that I just wasn't happy anymore. I thought I needed some time without a boyfriend to hang out with friends and spend more time on schoolwork. He was cool with it and we remained pretty civil, considering, so...

I had a friend tell me today that she gets the "you're one of the guys" line.
I guess we can be pretty damn mean too, Jenny.

Boys, it goes both ways... I know just as many guys who have used that line. The difference is most guys use those shitty lines right after they have gotten a piece.

i get the "you're one of the guys" line all the time, and let me tell you, it sucks. guys can be just as mean and viscous as girls.

I wouldnt say most guys. A lot but not most, your just going after the wrong ones i guess. The worst thing is when people play "games" with one another. Like Jenny said, if your not happy come out and say it, don't f*ck around with other people behind his/her back, don't give them dumb excuses, and don't stay in the relationship untill its just misserable.

Yes Hapoo, most girls go after the wrong ones (that is called dating). We don't even want to bring back the why do girls only want guys who are shitbags thread.
Yeah, I went through my fair share of jerks...Got sick of it and married a nice guy, go figure.
But, most of my friends are guys. So I still see quite a bit of male dating/mating rituals first hand. It's sometimes better than watching Animal Planet.

IrishSS, i know how you feel, I just recently got the line...
or at least a similar one
"To tell you the truth, I did love you, but lately I dont feel the same way anymore. Im not sure if I love you as just a friend or more."
How's that for suckage. At least with the "lets be friends" line you know its over, this girl has me hanging on a thread.

I thought the line was, "It's not you, it's me."
To which I reply, "You're right. It IS you." :D

Not so much the golden shovel, this is more of an update. Totally appropriate IMHO.

Wow! That was a digging up of almost seven years!
Dang, I've been on G|A? for way too long. Hahaha.
I got the line last year. And then she reconsidered. By that point, my heart was long gone. Go figure. That's a harsh line.

Haha i was also in college. And now i've got an MBA. dang.
I kind of got the line... I got:
"I've kind of shutdown on you and i dont know why or what to do about it. let me think about it ok?"
Now i think thats the line, but she doesn't want to say we're broken up cause she thinks i'm wonderful and everything she wants. So i'm lost! how long do you give a girl to think about stuff? a week or two?
