ok i have a Kenwood 72X Rom and currently running and have just installed Windows2000. evertime i go to rip any kind of data or install any app or game the installation fails and gives me crap about an error. i have 1 disk and 3 roms running master/slave/master/slave on the regular ide ports on my a7v. tried 4.25, 4.27, 4.28 4in1's, have tried bios 1005c, 1005d, 1006. i got all the updates and junk. is there some kind of setting for DMA in win2k that i can get to or is there a reg tweak for this, i am really corn-fused about this one. btw- my philips burner does the same crapola but get this my cheap $50 dvd-rom works no problems. i also called kenwood and i got some guy telling me i need to go to my bios and turn PIO MODE to 4 and disable UDMA and then he said to go to my DMA settings in win2k. ummmmm i'm used to 98se and winme.....where did the DMA settings go?
ok i need all of your guys input on this anything goes!
-Thanks all

do ya have the latest aspi layers?? (do you have any adaptec products installed?)
The True40X's and 52x's {to a lesser extent} had such major problems that Hi-Val and Kenwood were sued. Kenwood has fixed the technology so the True 62X's and 72X's are okay. I did hear updating the firmware on True72X's help its win2000 performance and also helped reading burned media.

yeah i did the firmware update when i was using winme. ok so i did what you said chosenfool, but when expand IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers it only shows "via bus master ultra ATA controller. no where do i see "Primary IDE channel Properties" and "Advanced settings Tab". man what the hell do i do now??? do you think i should switch my ATA-33 IDE devices to the ATA-100 ide ports on my A7v? that is the only thing i can think of.
Thanks guys for all the help i really apreciate it.

ok i figured it out. check dis shit. so when i install VIA drivers it asks me to enable "VIA Bus Master Ultra ATA (windows 2000)" all you have to do is uncheck it.....or if you already have installed it you just launch the VIA app and uninstall the "VIA Bus Master". thats why i couldn't find the advance settings in the property tab.
just FYI. Update: All my roms and shite are operational and good.
-i hope this can help someone.
