OK here's the deal. My cousin's setup date for DSL was yesterday. He got the self-install kit from GTE the day before yesterday.
I personally installed the NIC and the drivers, and setup the static IP address, gateway, DNS servers, etc.
The problem is that the DSL Modem can't seem to connect to the DSLAM. I can ping his IP address fine, meaning the NIC is fine. I've tried different CAT5 and phone cables, thinking that one of them might be snagged.
Well at about 6 PM I called GTE, cause the ISP told me that it was a problem with the line. The guy at GTE tells me that HE can't access the DSLAM's status from HIS COMPUTER!!!
Anyone have a clue as to what may be the problem? Other than the fact that GTE (Verizone) can't get their huge ugly rear-end into shape.
