I've been trying to hack my promise controller from a ultra66 to a fastrack 66 by soldering on a 100ohm resistor. I followed all the guides, flashed the bios, and then soldered the resistor, and the same thing on 2 cards. It loads the bios, lets me set up raid, but when I save and reboot, the settings are all gone. Does anyone know what I'm doing wrong and how to fix this?

I think you have to use an older flashing utility--the newer ones won't allow you to change card types.

I followed the second guide later, and used 1.09 flashing utility with the 1.30 Bios. Still no luck.

The other card, I tried flashing with the ultra66 bios, and it said wrong file, so I used an older flashing utility with the ultra66 bios, with the /Unlimit option and it put the bios there. Now when I boot with that card in there, it says something like Device adafssad Not found, Bios not loaded because no harddrives are attached (even though I have hard drives attached). And it won't let me go past that screen, so I can't even boot to a floppy and flash it again. Any other way of taking out that bios? (Short of getting a new bios chip?)
