The forums started after the website. I was getting college textbook deals through here Jan/Feb 1999

Ah yes, the memories. We did start sometime in late 1998 to early 1999 as just a plain HTML site that was haphazardly put together by either Frontpage or Dreamweaver. Neither Apex or I were programmers, so it was a really funky site. To add deals, we would just keep modifying the same page. Because of the horrible inefficiencies of Dreamweaver and Frontpage, the site ballooned to 600K, which was quite large back then. Remember, we were mostly all on 56K modems back then.

The first forum software we used was Ultimate Bulletin Board (UBB) but we didn't like how it was running on Cold Fusion. We then switched to vBulletin and have been using them since. Right now we just upgraded to vBulletin 4 CMS and are trying to work out all the kinks. It's still pretty buggy and laggy, but hopefully it all works out in the end. :bashcomp:

Tried to get in yesterday -- unsuccessfully. Now that I'm in, it does look nice. Fingers crossed on the stability issues. Another 2000 person here, though I did troll for deals for some time before that.

Hmm, I only have an MS but I also have a shirt (!). Perhaps the criteria is that one must be exceptionally good-looking in order to get a shirt.
