Philly/DC/Baltimore area.

Ummm, not if BLU is in charge of the refreshments. The Scrapple buffet would be enough to keep me at home!
But if there are no pork products involved I'm game.

I'd attend one in the DC/Baltimore area... only if the whole thing isn't centered around cheap/free stuff that everyone got off the net, i.e. refreshments consisting of nothing but free chocolate samples and such. ;)

Nyc overe here
See, if we do it in Philly, it's situated best for the people in NYC and Balt/DC/VA area. As for Boston, I don't see alot of people on the boards living up there. We could also do AC, but that place is sooooo cheezy.

MIDWEST IN THE HOUSE
I really think a convention would be kinda cool, I was dreaming about it a few weeks ago... Like 10 of these groups met and great sponsors came...
It went like this
APEX DH DvdTalk (Yes) AnandTech a few Slashdotties... Tweak and some more all came to meet, a bijillion sponsers NVIDA Toms Hardware Intel AMD .... of course the list goes on... It was held at the TWA Dome for a weekend, like a comp expo, but it was the Onlive Consortium EXPO... and everyone got tons of t-shirts and the entire thing was put on by RivTec Enterprises... hmmmm
IT COULD HAPPEN.

GAAAAAGGGGG me with a spoon!!!
I live in southern MD and it sickens me the crap people eat. Like ham stuffed with oysters...and 10 people died from it at some church thing in this area yet they STILL eat it. Plus there are people here who have never even been to Olive Garden they just eat pig parts instead.

Well, technically, I lived in Palermo too, of course I call it Marmora for lack of post office :). I graduated in way way way back in '89. My mom still lives on Timber Lane. May I ask if you have any older brothers or sisters? I have a younger sister, but she graduated in '92.
One more question based on your sig...you a Rush fan?

Never understood that one.. THat's what I always say I lived "outside of OC" because most folks know ocean city, but never heard of Palermo.

My mom just moved last summer from Linda Lane down to CM Court House. Geez, this is wierd...

Lessee. I have a sister, Shannon, she graduated a year after you. My brother, Ryan, graduated the same year as your sister.

yeah. i seriously live in a park. i've collected so much money from passers-by that i bought me this here computer. i hooked it up to one of the grills with some old foil and whenever there's a thunderstorm, the lightning hits the grill, sending electrical signals into my comp. maybe i should look into solar power.
so yeah, if that didn't sound totally ludicrous to you, then i dunno what to say. in other words, sorry to disappoint you, but no, i'm not serious.

I had to ask. I've just found a park in College Park, MD with a whole bunch of hugeass RV-like things (I remember from some thread where you said you lived in/near the DC area. ;) )
hahaha.
so why were you looking at parks in college park? there are lots of places in/around DC

well this thread has gotten a little off topic. should it be assumed that our attempt at a GTG has failed once again?

Sadly, it does seem so. :(
i dont see why this is so difficult. why cant a GTG just be schuedled somewhere and people can choose to come or not. we could start out with a vote. and then find a place at the chosen location. whats so difficult?? i dont get it.

hmmm... easter weekend. sadly i will be stuck with my whole family for the whole weekend. ahh, the wonders of deeply catholic parents.
If you guys really want a get-to-gether, I figure the only way to go is Las Vegas. Pick either CES or COMDEX (for next year january or this fall) and have it there. Everyone fly out.
For all you that will complain about the money, give it up. Nothing else will get a bunch of gotapex people together and at the same time be guaranteed fun-whether or not the gtg goes well.

Let me guess... You live near there, or can get there rather cheaply? ;)have ways to get there
there's no way i'm flying to las vegas jsut to meet some people off the net. you've got to be out of your mind.
how about we have a bunch of gtgs at different times in different places. then people can come to one or all according to their schedule. we'll have like 3 or something. i'll have one in.. hmm. june 23 all day... post here to tell me if you're coming and i'll let you know where. ps. dc area.
ok its obvious that no one cares about coming to MY gtg. i see how it is. nevermind, the plans are cancelled, as if it mattered anyway.
I'd definately do Vegas. But the east cost thing still is big on my list....
So lets see a show of hands for a meeting @ Valley Forge Park. Or maybe Rittenhouse Square...
Blu
The point of a gtg in Las Vegas is that your NOT just going to Las Vegas for the gtg.
You're going to go to LAS VEGAS, and while you're there, there's a BIG computer convention, gambling, drinking, etc. . . .
as well as a get to gether.

You know how expensive it is to stay in Vegas during COMDEX? The room rates are more than triple the normal prices... Trust me, I've looked into it... Plus, for the most part, every room in Vegas during COMDEX is booked 6 mths ahead.
