Hi,

Anyone have any ideas on which DVD drive is the best out there? I'm looking mainly for IDE, but if there is a spactacular SCSI out there that is great I would love to know about it. I have come across Pioneer and Toshiba being the best right now. Is the slot loading Pioneer any better than any other drives? What about data extraction speeds? Does it work well for ripping DVD's? Thanks

I hear that Plextor will be producing an DVD drive soon....maybe worth it to wait and see how they perform. It is scsi and will be replacing the Ultraplex 40x max.

Pioneer 106s... latest model out there...

The Pioneer 116a is identical, but not slot loading.
I have a decoder card, so I can't say if it is perfect... But it is quite speedy.

I got mine for about 80 shipped.
